Who are our Young Riders workshops for?

These sessions are designed for children who want to improve their mountain biking skills in a fun, supportive group environment. We have courses to suit different age ranges and abilities, from beginners building core skills to more confident riders ready to progress.

Our Young Riders sessions are for kids who already know how to ride a bike and are ready to take their skills to the next level. These aren’t beginner “learn to ride” courses - instead, we focus on building confidence, improving technique, and having fun on the trails.

If your child is still getting comfortable on a bike, that’s totally fine - once they can ride confidently, they’ll be ready to join us and start progressing in a supportive, encouraging environment.

What ages are the sessions for?

We run sessions for 8–11 year olds and 12–16-year-olds. Each session is tailored to the age and ability of the riders so everyone can progress at a pace that’s right for them, while having fun and staying safe.

What skills will my child learn?

Workshops focus on key mountain biking techniques. Our Foundations (ages 8-11) workshop covers:

• Balance, bike control and confidence
 • Safe braking and gear use
 • Body position and trail awareness
 • Trail etiquette and group riding skills
 • Techniques for handling small obstacles and features

Our Progression (ages 12-16) workshop builds on the skills that are learned from their foundations, covering:

• Refine body position and bike handling on varied terrain
 • Improve cornering, braking, and line choice for speed and flow
 • Gain confidence on drops, jumps, and technical trail sections
 • Understand trail reading and decision-making
 • Build resilience, focus, and confidence in a supportive group setting

All our youth workshops are delivered in a fun, confidence-building setting.

How do I book a spot?

What should my child bring?

Your child should come equipped with:
 • A mountain bike in good working order
 • Helmet (mandatory), gloves and protective gear
 • Comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for the weather
 • Water and a snack

What happens if the weather is bad?

We ride in most conditions, but if the weather makes riding unsafe (e.g. A weather warning, flooding or severe wind), we’ll contact you to offer an alternative date or a full refund.

Can you provide bikes or equipment if we don’t have them?

For our youth coaching sessions, riders will need to bring their own mountain bike and helmet. We don’t provide bikes or equipment, but we’re always happy to help if you’re unsure whether your child’s bike is suitable for the session. Please get in touch with us before booking, and we’ll be happy to advise you.

Are parents required to stay?
